Ben Ravenscroft
Ben Ravenscroft’s work is about what painting does, not just what it shows. Working on engraved aluminium, he uses structure, process and layered glazes to blur the lines between gesture and control, presence and absence. For Ravenscroft, painting is a live negotiation, a surface that resists, surprises, and slowly unfolds. He studied at Goldsmiths and now works from southeast London, returning often to old questions with new insight. Each piece offers not answers, but propositions, quiet disruptions that ask you to stay a little longer.
